This is the only that is provides for the African Caribbean community
We get together we socialise get together develop new skills and sustains our mental agility. We get to know what’s happening in our community i.e. who is in hospital who may have passed away – these things are really important when you’re a minority group
Without this service it will severely separate me from the AC community I have been coming here for twenty years and it is the only service that has maintained my cultural heritage.
If we loose this integral service I will have no one to socialise with from my own culture. We go on trips outings these things keep us going
If we don’t have this service we will become isolated and have no one to talk to.
No one! has recently come to see what we do here
Has the BME focus gone completely of the radar I have been using the ACP since I retired and it gives me culture! Without it I will have no where else to go this is my independence.
THIS IS OUR HOME…We do active things art craft and creativity. This group started many years ago in small numbers which has steadily grown over the years.
We are very angry that we have not been consulted the council make us feel worthless. No one has consulted the community about this its disgusting!

I have lived here for over fifty years and I don’t believe I’m asking for something that I do not deserve, I know budgets are tight but there is no excuse. We are owed something in the community that we have all contributed to and know our children contribute to this community. We feel very devalued that the commissioners’ could not have even treated us like ‘humans’
I have worked in the health service for over four decades and I am fully aware of the disadvantages of the ageing process linked with isolation. This group provides culturally specific fellowship and the membership spans years. People are involved in tasks of life long learning who are mentally alert and agile at Ninety years of age with out the provision of this service these people would require more health and social services. Although there is funding

People are involved in tasks of life long learning who are mentally alert and agile at Ninety years of age with out the provision of this service these people would require more health and social services. Although there is funding about to be with drawn it should be noted that there are many self funded projects being taken on willingly by participants. If the funding is withdrawn the members will feel personally let down by Warwickshire social services.
Personalisation will isolate people further.
It would cause a split in the group and isolated people further causing more stress. Because we have not been consulted our views are there is no guarantee as individuals we will get any personalisation funding. Its disgusting if we have to pay for services ourselves.
Meeting with the group provides me with community safety people look out for me. If I miss a session the group will call me to make sure ok. Without this sort of group community spirit we are all at risk. It’s a cultural thing.
It’s a place for us to eat our culturally prepared food which is really important to our state of mind.
I choose to live in Warwickshire as it is usually a very accommodating place. This sort of treatment by the council at the end of our lives is very upsetting – its very upsetting to be dismissed as valid member of a community group.
We haven’t just arrived here so we should not be treated in this way. We have put a lot into the local economy and these services should not be taken away from us.
We came to work in this country as nurses and we had no machines in the hospitals to move people or objects. Now we are physically suffering for our work. This group helps us cope with our work related injuries.
*(Integrated services)
Everyone is welcome and belongs here, a social work trainee helped me with housing problems. I have learnt in my latter life about their culture – knowing that black men came here to join the RAF and black women came here to be nurses. Most of the group have known each other and there children for a long time it is socially very relaxing. It’s a very supportive centre we don’t just sit around doing nothing. It’s a combination of work and chatter and I have a City & Guilds certificate.
Has any members of the council visited us to see how the group is benefitting us ?
This is really a well laid out website. I like how you have presented your information in excellent detail. You seem to really love your site. Keep up the great work here >>>health product reviews
The Coalition Howard government had announced that Medibank would be privatised if it won the 2007 election, however they were defeated by the Australian Labor Party under Kevin Rudd which had already pledged that it would remain in government ownership. Thanks a lot.
